Italian Hot Chocolate

This thick, creamy, real hot chocolate is satisfying, decadent, and surprisingly beneficial.

Soaked cashews cream up nicely, taste amazing and bring a bunch of nutritious benefits to the table. One of the things cashews are most famous for is their high Tryptophan content. Tryptophan is an amazing amino acid and is the precursor to both Serotonin and Melatonin. Serotonin is known and the "happy chemical" and contributes to feelings of wellbeing and happiness. Melatonin is your "sleep hormone" and regulates the sleep-wake cycle. Our dairy-free dark chocolate buttons are 74% cocoa solids, 100% organic, and will 100% satisfy your chocolate cravings. Cocoa is one of the most potent sources of antioxidants and is a good source of Magnesium and Iron. 

As a lighter alternative to this recipe, you can swap out the nut milk for water, but we used nut milk for a richer, creamier taste.

  • 3 cups nut milk of your choice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Raw Cashews
  • 4 tbsp 100% Canadian Maple Syrup
  • Pinch Pantry Pink Himalayan Crystal Salt
  • 1 cup Dairy Free Dark Chocolate Buttons
  • 1 tbsp Collagen Beauty Vanilla 

1. Soak cashews in a bowl of water for at least 1 hour (preferably overnight) then drain.

2. Combine all ingredients into a high-powered blender then blend for 3-5 minutes until the mixture is smooth and creamy.

3. Pour into a saucepan and gently heat the mixture for a few minutes until the temperature is to your liking. It will thicken as it heats.

4. Pour into 4 cups and drink while hot.

Note: You can adjust the taste to your liking by adding more maple or salt if needed.
