Veggie Hero Usage

Mix 2 teaspoons (5 g) into juices, purée’s, smoothies or sprinkle on popcorn. Add to scrambled eggs, spaghetti bolognese, soups, sauces or your favourite savoury family meal.

Berry Immune Usage

Mix 2 heaped teaspoons (8 g) into juices, smoothies, sprinkle on cereal, porridge, swirl into yoghurt or ice cream. Add to baking, smoothies, pancakes or just eat straight off the spoon!

Choc Whiz Usage

Can kiddies under 12 months have this product?

Veggie Hero has been designed for the nutritional needs of kids over 12 months of age, however, if you reduce the serving size of Veggie Hero to 2.5 g (1 teaspoon) and add it into your homemade purees, then it's a great addition of extra nutrition for your little person from 6 months up.

Are the vitamins and minerals natural or synthetic?

The vitamins and minerals are all natural. We are using an amazing organic concentrated superfood blend made from broccoli, spinach, kale, pumpkin, sweet potato, sunflower seeds, kelp, chlorella, maitake mushroom and shiitake mushroom which provides a huge range of vitamins and minerals - naturally.

What does it taste like?

It's a yummy, gently sweet and savoury taste of fresh vegetables. No flavours or sweeteners have been added.

What does refractance dried mean?

Refractance window drying is the name of the drying method of choice for all of Nutra Organics fruit and veggie powders, the reason we use it is simply because it’s the best. Refractance window drying is the most effective drying method for nutrient retention which is super important when we’re talking about water soluble vitamins and antioxidants (hello Berry Immune!). We want as much of these volatile nutrients in our product as possible, other drying methods such as spray drying/drum drying involve high heat which destroy these precious nutrients in seconds. It also goes without saying that if this method is the best for nutrient retention, it’s also the clear winner for savouring the colour, flavour and aroma of our fruit powders which is why Berry Immune tastes as good as it looks.

Can children under one consume Berry Immune?

Unfortunately Berry Immune is not suitable for children under the age of one as it is not designed to be a sole source of nutrition and doesn’t fit the very specific criteria for foods suitable for infants.

I am a grown-up, can I have this product?

NO, go find some grown-up food (Jokes!). Anyone can have our delicious and nutritious Choc Whiz. However, we specifically designed this product to meet your children's needs (between 1-3 years). But anyone older that 1 year of age can have this product, including adults. The only thing is that adults need a higher amount of nutrients when compared to young children.

Is it vegan?

Unfortunately our Choc Whiz is not Vegan. We have added a very special ingredient to our formula that comes from fish: Omega 3 DHA! Omega 3 fatty acids are so important during early stages of life and we wanted to be able to offer this to your loved ones.

Choc Whiz contains DHA extracted from fish. Does it taste or smell like fish?

Not a chance! Even though we have incorporated omega 3 DHA extracted from fish in our product, this special ingredient has been microencapsulated, which means that no kid or adult will be able to smell it or taste it.

What are Omega 3 Fatty Acids (DHA and EPA)? And why are they added?

Our body can make most of the fats it needs, but that isn't the case for omega 3 fatty acids. These are essential fat, which means that the body can't make them from scratch, so it must get them from food. There are 3 important fatty acids: alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). ALA is commonly found in most Western diets in plant oils such as flaxseed, soybean and canola oils and some nuts; while DHA and EPA come mainly from fish and other seafood (reason why most people call them marine omegas).

Our body can convert ALA into EPA and DHA, but the conversion is sometimes very limited. That is why it is so important to consume foods or supplements that contain these two omegas.

Omega 3s are important for so many reasons, they are components of the membranes that surround each cell in your body; DHA is especially high in retine (eye) and brain, so it is really important to incorporate this omega 3 into early stages of life. We have added Omega 3 DHA and some EPA to our product for its brain boosting capabilities.

What does it taste like?

What is thaumatin?

For parents' peace of mind, rest assured that we only use natural sweeteners across all of our products. Our Captain Calm contains thaumatin, which is sourced from the katemfe fruit, Thaumatococcus daniellii, found in the West African rainforests. Thaumatin is a very sweet protein that is extremely powerful so we only need to use tiny tiny amounts of it. Just to put into perspective, stevia is 200 times sweeter than sucrose, while thaumatin is about 2000 times sweeter than sucrose! Mother nature is indeed super powerful. 

Are the calming botanicals, herbal extracts or whole herbs?

Here at Nutra Organics, it is of the utmost importance to us that all members of the family can enjoy the majority of our products and that where possible, we use the most “whole” form of the ingredient available. Therefore we do not utilise herbal extracts in Captain Calm, simply the whole herb. This means that our product is more wholesome, and suitable for all members of the family to consume.

Magnesium is sourced from seawater (Aquamin)

All B Vitamins are derived from organic quinoa sprouts

What are the benefits of Magnesium?

Magnesium helps the body relax. This nutrient reduces the tension accumulated in your body and mind, promoting a calming and soothing environment. Have you noticed that magnesium is widely used outside and inside of the body for relaxation purposes? For example, most bath soaks contain magnesium to promote a complete experience of pure relaxation; sports ointments or sprays for muscle relaxation contain magnesium. Plus most sleeping and stress-relief supplements on the market also contain magnesium as the main active ingredient. Our Captain Calm surely does contain magnesium, to be precise 74% of your child's recommended dietary intake per serve. 

What are the benefits of B Vitamins and Vitamin D?

The human body contains several biological pathways responsible to perform a complexity of tasks and each of them require a variety of compounds to work properly. Example, the Sleep-Wake cycle requires different hormones, enzymes and cofactors to be functional. Several studies have indicated the positive impacts of vitamin D and B vitamins (specifically B1, B6 and Folate) on body relaxation and calming pathways. Captain Calm contains the cofactors necessary to promote a calming and soothing time for your little ones.

Aren't sugars bad for kids? If this is a calming product, why are there sugars? 

This is a VERY good question. Let's break it down. Sugars are essential for brain function, as our brain relies on sugar as its main and preferred source of energy. So we need sugar to be able to function properly. Dietary carbohydrates (example sugars) play an important role to facilitate the transportation of tryptophan to the place where it is needed. Therefore sugars are indeed necessary to promote a relaxing and calming time. 

Will this product make my kids do their chores and to to bed earlier?

Absolutely not. Captain Calm is in no way comparable to a strong pharmaceutical that may cause your kids to feel drowsy the next day. Captain Calm is only a supportive food product, containing key active ingredients that promote a sense of relaxation during the afternoon or prior to bed, but it is not strong enough to cause excessive drowsiness.
