Collagen Beauty
Are Collagen Beauty™, Collagen Body and Collagen Build safe for consumption during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
Yes, they are safe for consumption during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as well as kids 12 months plus.
How is Collagen Beauty™ different to other collagens?
Our naturopathically developed Collagen Beauty™ utilises the only scientifically researched bioactive collagen peptides, VERISOL®, that have been shown in multiple studies to reduce skin wrinkles, improve skin hydration and elasticity, and improve hair strength and thickness. Together with organic wholefood bioavailable sources of Vitamin C and Zinc, Collagen Beauty™ provides the necessary nutrients needed to promote collagen production in skin, as well as healthy hair and nails. And with a generous amount of collagen (10g) in every serve - you'll experience far better results, much faster than most other products that only provide 3g or less collagen per serve.
My Collagen Beauty Powder looks different. Have you changed the formula?
Nothing has changed with the product itself or the formula, everything remains the same.We have recently made some improvements in product manufacture that have resulted in less settling of the powders over time when packed - this may be what you have noticed as the powders sometimes appear more voluminous than previous batches. As the products are packed by weight (not volume) there is some variation in how full the canister may appear depending on the fluffiness of the powder. Also like any other food product, some variances might occur from batch to batch due to the naturalness of our products.
Where does your Collagen come from?
We proudly source our collagen from the most reputable, sustainable and ethical manufacturer in the world.
Is your collagen sustainable?
Yes! We are passionate about sustainability, which is another reason why we chose to partner with our Collagen manufacturer. You can read their 2019 Sustainability Report here which details everything from their sustainable production processes to their commitment to the highest animal welfare standards. Nutra Organics is very proud to deliver the highest quality collagen product available on the global market, and part of the criteria that assures this is the sustainable origin of our ingredients. We certainly understand that deforestation is a global issue and have taken steps to address this through our Project Give Back and Sustainable Packaging.
What is better marine or bovine?
There are a lot of misconceptions about the size of collagen peptides from bovine source vs marine source. One is not “bigger” or “smaller” than the other. The size of collagen peptides relies on the hydrolysis process. This is the process where collagen fibres are broken down into small peptide chains. The collagen that we use has been specifically hydrolysed to be the correct size and shape for optimal absorption and utilisation by the body, specific for it’s function!
Which Collagen Product is best for me?
That depends entirely on what your goals and priorities are, as each of our collagen powders contains different bioactive collagen peptides that have different functions in the body. We have also added some specific key nutrients to each that further support and target those functions and make them even more specialised; Collagen Beauty targets skin hair and nails, Collagen Body targets bone and Collagen Build targets muscle. For example, If you are concerned with wrinkles and skin hydration, Collagen Beauty is the one for you! If you are concerned with bone density or have recently injured yourself and fractured a bone, then Collagen Body is the one for you! If you are focusing on building strength and lean muscle mass then Collagen Build is the one for you!
Can I take more than one collagen product at the same time?
We do not recommend taking more than one collagen product at a time. More is not always better. If you would like to target multiple body systems, we recommend taking turns with which collagen product you use. The clinical studies that demonstrated the effectiveness of each of the collagens was done by using just one of the specialised bioactive collagen peptides, every day for the trial period (usually between 8-12 weeks). So we recommend doing the same thing (for example, you may want to take Collagen Beauty for 12 weeks to help strengthen and hydrate skin over winter, then focus on Collagen Build for 12 weeks to build and strengthen lean muscle over spring). Taking more Collagen won’t cause harm (as it is a food product that is generally considered safe) but there is only so much protein synthesis and metabolism that you can do in a day. Also, consuming too much of anything isn’t a good idea, as it takes the place of other foods in the diet which may reduce the variety of foods that you have in your day. A healthy varied diet is always the best!
What 'types' of collagen are in Collagen Beauty™, Collagen Body and Collagen Build?
Collagen Beauty™, Collagen Body and Collagen Build are standardised to contain type I and type III collagen. These two types of collagen are the most abundant types present in connective tissue within the human body such as in hair, skin, nails, bones, joints, muscle and ligaments.
Where does our Collagen come from?
Our collagen comes from cattle located in Brazil & Germany.
Are the cows fed grass or grains?
If there’s one thing we are passionate about here at Nutra Organics, aside from food of course, its animals and their welfare. Therefore we have ensured that the bovine our collagen comes from are treated under the highest animal welfare schemes possible. We do not claim "grass fed" as some of them are located in climates where it snows a large portion of the year, and due to other environmental factors, such as drought, cattle are occasionally fed wholesome non-gmo grains to ensure survival. Therefore as they are not exclusively grass-fed for the entirety of their lives, we do not choose to claim grass-fed.
Is your Collagen Certified Organic?
No, unfortunately there is no commerically viable source of certified organic collagen at this time. This is a global issue and we are doing our best to push for this change as the industry expands.
How is Collagen different to Gelatin?
The main difference between the Collagen and Gelatin Powders are as follows; Collagen is naturally present in all connective tissue. Gelatin is extracted from collagen, and hydrolised collagen is gelatin that has been broken down even further. Therefore, the amino acid profile is the same, but the protein sizes are different.
Hydrolysed collagen peptides are so small that they will dissolve in hot and cold liquid unlike Gelatin that goes solid (giving it it’s gelling effect).
Our Collagen products are fortified with specific Collagen Peptides that are trademarked peptides that make the Collagen Powders functional. ie. Collagen Beauty™ is fortified with Verisol Collagen peptides that aid in depositing Collagen in hair, skin and nails. Whereas Collagen Body is fortified with Fortibone Collagen peptides that aid in depositing Collagen in bone, ligaments, joints and muscle mass.
Why is my container half full?
When our Collagen Body, Collagen Beauty™ and Collagen Build are first put into their tubs, the powder is extremely fluffy and the tub is filled to the top, the powder then settles to the point in which you have received it. If we were to put it into smaller tubs they would be overflowing and we would not be able to fill it with the weight of the product specified on the packaging. Please be assured that your full dose of collagen is in there as we sell by weight and not volume.
Natural Gelatin
Is it pregnancy & breastfeeding friendly?
Yes! In saying this, we do advise on all our products to seek advice from your health care professional on taking our products if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. We only say so as we believe that every pregnancy is different, taking a toll differently on each individual body in vitamin, mineral and energy levels. We invite you to research the product to ensure that you are not sensitive to any particular ingredients.
Is Gelatin vegan or vegetarian friendly?
No unfortunately, Gelatin is not vegan or vegetarian friendly as it is derived from animal sources. There is no way to obtain gelatin from a plant source as by nature it only occurs in protein rich connective tissue which plants do not have.
Where is Gelatin made and where does it comes from?
Gelatin is a naturally occurring protein source, derived from the collagen rich components of connective tissue in animals. It is produced through a method of heating these components to naturally extract the gelatin rich collagen from these areas. Gelatin naturally contains a large amount of amino acids such as proline, glycine, hydroxyproline, glutamine and many more which can otherwise be hard to obtain from lean cuts of meat commonly consumed in the western diet. These amino acids are necessary for us to consume as they provide the benefits for all of our connective tissue such as skin, ligaments, bones, cartilage and even our gut lining. Our Gelatin comes from Australian cows, which are predominantly grass fed. Their diets are supplemented with non-GMO grains when necessary.
Is the Sulphur Dioxide in the Gelatin safe?
It is totally safe for people who aren’t sensitive to sulphates. The levels present in gelatine are right on the cusp of being at a level it even needs to be declared (so is very low) but we just wanted people who are sensitive to sulphates to make informed decisions. It's in there as a result of the manufacturing process so unfortunately we can’t get gelatin without it.
Super Greens + Reds
What is Ganaden BC 30?
Ganeden is just the most famous probiotic strain (Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6068) on the market! Ganeden is a patented, award-winning branded probiotic. It is well researched and has several published articles which demonstrate it’s health benefits, including: digestive support, immune support, protein utilization. It is a spore forming probiotic that is able to survive higher temperatures, oxygen exposure, and the low pH of your stomach meaning it is still alive when it enters your gut and will be fully effective.
What do you mean by synbiotic blend?
In the science world, when prebiotics are combined with probiotics we have a synbiotic product. According to the International Scientific Association for Probiotics and Prebiotics (ISAPP), the definition of synbiotic is: “A mixture, comprising live microorganisms and substrate(s) selectively utilized by host microorganisms, that confers a health benefit on the host.” In our product label you can read on our ingredients list the following:
Synbiotic Blend [Prebiotics: Inulin*, Apple Pectin, Green Banana Starch*, Probiotic: GanedenBC30® (Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6068)]. Which means that we have added 3 prebiotic fibres and the best probiotic strain in the universe.
What does Super Green + Reds taste like?
It’s the best tasting greens on the market (considering its brilliant ingredients list). Even though we have powerful super greens and reds, together they deliver a mixed taste of sweet greens with a tangy pleasant zing. Also we have added natural plant based flavours and a natural sweetener to enhance the taste.
Are the flavours natural?
Yes! We use premium plant based flavours that are created using only natural processing methods such as heating, fermenting and pressing. There is nothing artificial in our Super Greens + Reds.
Does this product contain caffeine?
Not anymore! Our previous formula contained matcha green tea and green coffee extract, which contained caffeine. However we have removed these 2 ingredients from our new blend, making it caffeine free.
What is Blue Majik?
Our Blue Majik is a trademarked blue spirulina also grown in the USA. The reason our blue spirulina is so special is due to its careful processing that preserves all of the vital nutrients and phytochemical compounds. Many blue spirulina products can be poor quality, cut with maltodextrin and processed with chemicals for extraction. We’re proud to utilise this pure ingredient that only undergoes a water extraction method (similar to swiss water processing of coffee beans) and is naturally rich in chlorophyll, phycocyanin, B12 and Beta Carotene.
What's so good about antioxidants?
Antioxidants provide a multitude of health benefits by providing protection to cells from free radical damage. This is important to help enable cells to function at their optimum and reduce the likelihood of dysfunction across a multitude of systems. Our Super Greens + Reds has been tested for its antioxidant potency using an ORAC test (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) and has demonstrated a very high antioxidant capacity, even when compared to other high antioxidant foods.
Chicken Bone Broth Homestyle Original
How is the Chicken Bone Broth made?
Our Chicken Bone Broth is made by roasting organic chicken bones, then simmering the bones in filtered water and organic apple cider vinegar for approximately 16 hours. The liquid is then poured through a filter to remove any solids. The broth is then gently refractance dried into a powder.
Why is apple cider vinegar added?
Apple cider vinegar is acidic, which makes it great for naturally enhancing the extraction of collagen and other nutritious elements from the bone to ensure that our bone broth contains all the possible benefits.
Is the bone broth from organic chickens?
Yes, our chicken bone broth is made from Australian, free range, organic chicken bones.
How are deactivated nutritional savoury flakes made?
They are made from a single-celled organism fungi called Saccharomyces cerevisiae grown on molasses. They are harvested, washed and dried with heat to 'deactivate' them and then rolled to form flakes.
Are deactivated nutritional savoury flakes fortified with vitamins?
Nutritional Yeast Flakes are fortified with vitamins in the initial stages of growth. As the yeast grows they organically bind to these vitamins and proliferate them. The yeast itself also digests these vitamins to a degree and proliferates its own nutrient content creating a naturally vitamin rich food that can be incorporated into all savoury meals.
What does "deactivated" nutritional savoury flakes mean?
Deactivated is a term used to describe the quick heating process that stops nutritional yeast from being able to proliferate any further. Just like good and bad bacteria, there are good and bad yeasts that exist within our digestive tract. Unlike unhealthy yeasts such as Candida spp., nutritional yeast is made from a healthful yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae which helps to stop unhealthy yeasts from colonising in the digestive tract by a process of displacement. Therefore even though nutritional yeast is deactivated and unable to proliferate in the body, it is still having the favourable effects of a beneficial yeast in the digestive tract.
Is it gluten free?
Yes! The recipes do not contain any gluten containing ingredients and we make sure that they are manufactured and packed in a gluten free environment.
Is it pregnancy & breastfeeding friendly?
Yes! In saying this, we do advise to seek the advice of your primary health care professional if taking any of our products for the first time if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. We only say so as we believe that every pregnancy is different, taking a toll differently on each individual body in vitamin, mineral and energy levels. We invite you to research the product to ensure that you are not sensitive to any particular ingredients.
Why do our broths sparkle?
Our broths are so special that they even sparkle! This is because we have used a gentle refractance dry technique to preserve the nutrients and colour. No, we have not added any glitter. Due to the gentle evaporation process that occurs as part of the refractance drying method, the raw material starts to change shape to form small crystalline structures that naturally reflect light making it sparkle.
Are there heavy metals in the Chicken Bone Broth?
Bone is known to act as a reservoir for essential metals and other minerals in the body, which is one of the reasons that bone broth is so nutritious. Having said that, because of this, there is also sometimes the concern that undesirable substances like heavy metals may be present too. Rest assured, that all of our raw ingredients are tested and must comply with strict food standards pertaining to heavy metal detection prior to being used in our products.
